Capturing literacy in an image…
BALID promotes an understanding of literacy as social practice with a multiplicity of literacy practices being part of people’s everyday lives and informing their identity.
For BALID, literacy is more than just the skill of reading and writing as it is commonly understood, and includes the use of text, numbers and images in both formal and non-formal ways.
What does literacy mean to you?
BALID invites you to share a picture which captures literacy for you.
It doesn’t need to be a ‘formal’ learning situation but could be anywhere, anytime, anyone.
Please post your photos on Facebook or Twitter alongside a short description (240 characters max!) using the hashtag #EverydayLiteracy and tag @BALID_UK on Twitter and BALID on Facebook.
The competition is open until 31st October 2020.
Shortlisting will take place in early November.
Please ensure that anyone featured in your photo has given consent for the image to be shared.
Shortlisted entrants will be asked to consent to their photo being used by BALID for communication and publicity about literacy. Full credit will be given for all photos used by BALID.
The winner will be announced on the BALID website, receive a prize of £50, and be featured in an international BALID event in November 2020!
